The place for young aspiring actors

The youth theatre focused on actor training

We believe the arts make a town richer, and we want the young people of Rugby to get in on the act. In the Round Theatre is a youth theatre providing weekly actor workshops for young aspiring actors.

OLD TIMES

Our new production, part of the National Theatre's Connections programme.

When they were kids, everyone loved Tom Joy. He brought the fun to any situation. He would be the first to crack a joke, the first to take on a dare…and the first to take things a little too far.

Five years on and Tom Joy is back. But this time, the friends have to wrestle with their guilt, from the lies they told the grown-ups, and of the story they created, that ultimately sent their best friend to prison.

Old Times, by Molly Taylor is a new piece of writing commissioned by the National Theatre as part of their NTConnections programme, an annual nationwide youth theatre festival.

This show was performed at Macready Theatre on 29th March and at Derby Theatre on 23rd April, 2023.

Now in their second year, In the Round Theatre is a vibrant new youth theatre group based in Rugby that focusses on actor training. The group is a non-profit making organisation with the sole aim of providing actor training to the young people of Rugby.

Home: About

“Working with the young actors of In the Round Theatre was a delight. They are an energetic, imaginative company who are willing to try anything. Big and bold and funny comes naturally to many of them but I found they were also able to take on some new ideas about acting and to work with truth and subtlety. Their energy is infectious.

The group is led by Rob and Darren who are inspirational with their dynamism and passion for their work. There is huge potential in the group and the possibility of building a really interesting company who could contribute significantly to theatre life in Rugby.

This is group’s first year and I look forward to seeing them again. There could be some stars in the making!”

Help us to provide affordable actor training

We're a non-profit making organisation and we need your support

Our mission is to provide quality affordable acting workshops for the young people of Rugby. As an organisation run by volunteers, we welcome any donations to help us fund our youth theatre.

Donations will be used to help pay for ongoing costs which can include rehearsal space and show production expenses, such as venue, set, props, lighting, costumes etc. We also have several subsidised places available and your donation will help pay for these free places.

We believe the arts make a town richer, and we want the young people of Rugby to get in on the act.
